Presented by Blanton Museum of Art
Description
Words/Matter: Latin American Art and Language at the Blanton
Words/Matter explores how modern and contemporary artists from the most part in the Blanton collection of Latin American art have addressed in creative ways the links between art and language. Since the 1920s, avant-gardes have brought together writers and artists, sparking dynamic exchanges across disciplines, which have resulted in rich explorations of visual and written representations, often blending both. Using words as if they were images, and presenting images as written signs, these artists communicate messages of a personal, poetic, or political nature across a broad range of media. Curated by Beverly Adams, Curator of Latin American Art, Blanton Museum of Art, and Florencia Bazzano, Curatorial Research Associate, Blanton Museum of Art
